A fun introduction to dance designed to stimulate creativity and imagination while encouraging a love of dance.
Ballet
Beginning Levels: Children are taught the fundamentals and language of ballet in an atmosphere of encouragement,
discipline and warmth. Emphasis is on correct placement and developing a love of dance.
Intermediate and Advanced: Classical ballet training continues and instruction concentrates on perfecting previous skills.
Pointe: Training on pointe begins only after strong, comprehensive basic technique has been developed and the feet, back and
legs are sufficiently strong. Pointe is taught after two or three years preparation in intermediate ballet class. Concurrent
registration in ballet and permission of the instructor are required.
Tap
Tap is the art of sound. Traditional techniques are taught with a new approach using rhythm elements of ballet, jazz, urban and lyrical.
Jazz
Rhythm and isolation develop a style of dance, which allows freedom and expression.
Hip Hop
An urban influenced form of dance.
Contemporary Lyrical
Learn to use your body, mind, language and imagination through creative dance.
School Programs
"STEPS offers a Recreational Program as well as a Pre-Professional program."
Miss Gibson believes that high standards will lift the quality of dance. Both programs will instill commitment, self-esteem, self-
motivation, self-confidence, perseverance, coordination, concentration, respect, and responsibility. In short, students will learn
values that can be applied to any endeavor in life.
Miss Gibson and the STEPS faculty encourage all children to voice their dance goals so that they may be guided toward achieving them!
